Hi everyone, I am so frusterated right now I wanted to come on here and run a few things by all of you.
I have had my 360 since launch and it finally broke two weeks ago (3 FLASHING RED LIGHTS) this was my worst nightmare as an owner of the flawed launch batch. However I had always up to this point supported Microsoft and the 360 since mine operated flawlessly until the other day.
Regardless, I called 1-800-4-MY-XBOX and was helped by a customer support agent that actually spoke some english, I was amazed.
He promised that they would be shipping me a pre-paid UPS box and I should expect it within 3-5 business days later. Over a week later and I still had no UPS box to ship the broken 360 back to Microsoft to get my replacement.
I decided that the best route was to call the support line again and spoke to a supervisor that told me that for some ''UNKNOWN'' reason my repair order is still being processed over a week later and he was going to escilate my status within the system, and a ''REPAIR TEAM'' service member would call me on Monday and get me a UPS box.
There is evidently no other numbers to call and this supervisor (DRE S.) cannot transfer my call directly. I have been nice and polite through this whole 30 minute conversation, I am afterall a 24 year old adult that owns a business of my own, I just like to play games in my spare time.
Basically I feel that I am being jerked around by Microsoft at this point and have no alternate ways to handle my situation.
So now that you know my situation I am left I feel with three options:
1. Wait for an extended period of time and see if Microsoft gets their act together and deliver upon their promise to handle my broken 360.
2. THE ''TOWEL TRICK'' I have read on neumerous sites that wrapping a broken 360 in towels and running it for a period of no more that 15-20 mins, heats the unit enough to repair broken solder joints and CAN repair a red lighting 360.
3. Finally my last option and the one I may ultimatley choose... I intend if neither options 1 or 2 work to duct tape an extreme number of M-80s to my broken 360 and use my digital camcorder to film the first 360 to be blown to a million pieces. I then intend to gather all of the broken scraps of 360 and send them, along with a complementary DVD to the Microsoft repair center, as a way to voice my dis-satisfaction.
By the way... for my inconvenience, Microsoft is offering me a FREE MONTH of XBOX LIVE GOLD... ARE YOU F*%26%ING KIDDING ME! A 5 DOLLAR VALUE... FOR WEEKS OF INCONVENIENCE!!!!! WHAT A JOKE.
Well I just want to know what everyone thinks. I would like some input.I would like for everyone interested in option #3 the M-80 detonatiing 360 to donate to my paypal fund LOL! Simply TERRIBLE
I say do the towel trick which is only a short lived temporary fix anyway - that way you can play for the next couple of days. Then make sure you talk to the tech guys or a superviosr at support on Monday. I hope you got a reference number from your call as it will make talking to a supervisor much easier. Make sure and talk to a supervisor if the repair department doesn't call you back on their own. I would have MS repair the unit though as they are now adding the extra heatsinks to repaired consoles - essentially improving the units over their off the shelf configuration. So you will actually get an improved unit back if you have them repair it. They are usually pretty good with turn around time once they receive the unit. But yeah - use the towel trick until you get it sent to them.Just my 2 cents.:)PS - That would be one heck of an expensive firework if you choose option 3.Simply TERRIBLE
cool story. If this 360 i have now dies, its hello PS3 and see you later 360 for a while.
Trust me I have wasted over $400 on fireworks before, for the fourth of july, so while it is an expensive alternative, I do inted to film it, and put it up on youtube. If I have to call MS customer support agian, if they do not call me back as promised I will be an even un-happier (I dont think thats even a word) camper.Regardless, I would become well known on the net as the guy who blew up his broken 360 in protest and sent the remains to the microsoft repair center, and that would be cool too.:D
I feel for you man. Had to replace my launch unit. But be patient. The 360's saving grace in my mind isthe great library of games and system (when working hehehe) are so compelling its worth dealing with the headaches. I was really upset (Mad upset) but once i got it backI got over it. its a testament to how much I enjoy the 360.Its not like I can stuff it in the closet and go play my PS3 with its non existent library. Oh, you could get a Wii!!!! LMAO
The towel trick doesn't work. It's a childish idea of fixing something.

LOL(I love the 360 and PS3) :)Just be patient and like I said make sure and talk to a Supervisor - insist on it. I spent the last 3 days (7 hours total) on the phone with support over an issue - talked to 3 different supervisors and - BAM #3 actually understood what I wanted and made it happen. Just don't take no for an answer and don't stop until you're satisfied. Also their support is open 24/7 so I would call them again tonight if you have the energy and let them know just how unhappy you are that they haven't sent your shipping box out yet. Also tell them you're going to blow it up on you tube and buy a PS3 - you may be amazed at what the agents and supervisors do at the mention of the PS3. LOLGood luck - and rest assured it will get resolved if you make them resolve it. Every person that tells you it can't be done or isn't possible - ask to talk to their supervisor, even if it's already a supervisor they still have a boss too. And no one in support likes transfering a call to their boss.:)

Ithelps me unwind after stressfull days at work, and it bugs the living h*ll out of my fiance Sarah when I play and she is in the house, which makes me laugh. Because she resents a game system... I am just very frusterated with my customer support experience at this point and will (if I feel no other option is left) strap some explosives to my broken 360 and blow it to smitherines. I will of course at that point have to buy another one... which I will buy a store warranty with so that I dont have to put up with any BS from Microsoft if and when that one breaks... Again like I said I love the 360, I am just upset with my customer service experience thusfar. I will not bash the console, and I will either have this one repaired, blow it up, or buy a new console...

Remember this - these are contracted customer service reps and are NOT actual MS employees. I live about 20 minutes from the MS Redmond campus and when I told the Supervisor that it was all of a sudden Yes Sir and No Sir. LOL cracks me up. Like I said - you're in control of the situation - NOT THEM - don't take no for an answer man, and they will fix it. :)
hey man, i got the same exact problem a few days ago, but i got the 1 flashing light (which i have no idea what it means, the website didnt say specifically niether did customer support.) Payed my $150 since my warranty expired (also first launch360 owners). They said 3-4days, yeawell its already theseventh and hope to god i get it soon. Tried the towel trick but it didnt work.Imacall tomorrow and if not i ma gonna be very angry.......and send them an angry letter. Or illl just disect my 360 and have fun with it. Muahahaha!
i hope mine doesnt break :(
same thing happened to me. i got soo tired of waiting for the ups box that i went to costco (thank god i bought it there) becasue MS was probably going to send me a refurb, and returned it. they gave me cash back, told me to go back in line and buy a new one (which i got more money back because teh price of teh 360 bundle went down), and even let me switch my hardrive. thank god.
i hope mine doesnt break :(
I used to say the same GD thing on these forums, and defended people bashing the 360 for over a year on forums like this. Now I am left holding my d%26*# in my hands. While I wait for Microshaft to come through for a loyal customer that has spent thousands on games, and xbox live arcade points, consoles, accessories and even that 52'' HD TV I bought before I actually NEEDED it to get the full HD XBOX 360 experience.THANKS A LOT MS.

The Wife isn't fond of my consoles either......Oh but she loves those damn Arcade games on XLIVE ARCADE.
i wanna see u blow it up but for your interest wait patiently
Get the box and then send Microsoft 50 M80's.
Get the box and then send Microsoft 50 M80's.
I also believer that sending explosives through the mail is a fellony... jail is probably something I would like to avoid if at all possible. But thanks for the thought. LOL I appriciate it.
Hey... gotta be a rebel from time to time ;P
