Does the Ring of Death only apply to Lau ...

I am thinking about buying an xbox 360 soon however I have heard all sorts of horror stories about the infamous ring. I heard from someone that the chances of the ring showing up on newer consoles is less likely. Is there any truth to this statement or does the circle show up on consoles regardless of age? Does the Ring of Death only apply to Lau ...
It can happen to anybody (my 360 broke and I didn't even get the lights)Does the Ring of Death only apply to Lau ...
i would assume the elite has fix the issue.it is more common on the launch consoles.

All Xbox's have a one year warrenty from Microsoft, if it stops working within the year call 1-800-4MY-Xbox and they should fix it for free. If you don't want to wait and mail it off you could get an in store warenty but it costs something like $25 - $35.
No, I have had 3 consoles, a launch, one made in Jan 06 and then another made in Jun 06, and this one, I dont know what it is...
the red lights are supposed to show that there is an error in the system, so it applies to all consoles, regardless of when they were made. The error that made the launch consoles fail so often has probably been fixed, but that doesn't mean that your console won't show the ring. At least the 360 has a visual confirmation that something is wrong and doesn't just stop working.
I would have to say no, because my console that I bought last July just got the 3 rings of death about 10 minutes ago. Just get a good warranty and you should be fine.
No the issue isnt fixed yet, even with the elite. They are coming out with a fix soon, somebody posted it a little while back and it showed the bigger heatsink and some other fixed being made.
It can happen to any console. I got mine of april of last yr, and I got it like three weeks ago. I just bought a core console because i just needed the harddrive. The new one runs smoothly and I don't hear the noise that came from my diskdrive like my old one.
it can happen to any xbox 360 but the good thing is you can ship it to this repair center for free.
my xbox 360 was made in october of 2006 so it fairly new and I Got 3 red lights and i dont even play much .... i think forza 2 brought the ring of death to my 360 =(
Treath the console right and the chance of it breaking will be very small. Follow these four golden rules and you will most likely be just fine, Keep the console and power supply well ventilated, plug the power supply directly to a wall socket,Dont move it while its on and clean it from time to time with a vaccumcleaner. I have done this and my console have worked flawlessly for almost a year.. Many broken consoles is by user error so if you treath it right the chance of it breaking is like i said very small..
