Many topics on this board include the ''3 red lights.'' I thought I'd make another, not because I am a member to this group but because I'm not. I've owned my 360 ever since Dec. 2005 and have enjoyed it ever since and have had no problems what so ever. I've never had any issues regarding freezing or any other hardware issues. I also normally play it 2 hours a day - on week days. And atleast 3 hours a day - on the weekends. Another thing I do is I take care of my 360, NOT like a pet, but like any other possession I own. Ever since I got it I made sure it was ventilated well and made sure it was always on a book if it was ever on the carpet-in the horizontal stance. You may be wondering why you even read up to here.. But I have a question..... Am i one of the lucky ones whose 360 was manufactured without any flaws in it and will work until i stop playing it? Or am i taking care of it more than most, and because of that it hasn't gotten the 3 red lights? I mean, I've seen topics where people are on their 6th xbox360. Seriously. To me it seems like you probably trash it and don't care about it what so ever. That may be a rationalization I have because I've never experienced what you have. So if you've read up this far i guess what I'm trying to say is, is it because of the way i take care of my possessions that my 360 hasn't died yet? Or am i just lucky? Please, if you respond, tell me when you got your 360, and/or if it had a hardware failure. Thank you. The xbox 360 death rate
I think your day is coming soon my friend. When I started hearing about all of these breakdowns with the 360, I looked at mine like it had cancer, and I tried to do all the things I could to keep it from croaking, but to no avail. Treat your system well and kiss it before you go to bed every night, because your next gaming session could be your very last...or until you get it temporalily fixed. The xbox 360 death rate
well if that's true i don't know what i'd do. With the price i would pay to get it fixed i think i'd be better off calling it a day and get a wii. :?
You're just lucky. Taking care of the 360 has no effect on whether it'll last or not besides factors not related to the 3 red rings. You can take extreme care of it, or take no care of it, and it'll still only last up until a certain point.
i also don't understand how people go through 3-6 of them. These are the people bringing it back to the store to exchange it for a brand new one with their extra $40 warranty they paid for. I had mine since spring of '06 and i play probably only 10-15 hrs a week, keep it in a well open ventilated area, put it on hard surface horizontally AND keep the power brick ventilated on all its four sides. Basically, if and once my 360 dies and can't get it fixed for free, i'll take a chance with a PS3 once they make their price cut and fix the hardware problems.
Got my lights last month.....ms ignoring me, the store i bought it can't repair it and i am out of warranty fot replacement ;p.i found on a webpage how to repair your self, i am going to try it, else i will need a summer job to get a ps3 :S no more money for MS from me;p
you are one of the lucky ones... but like you said people on their 6th systems are either very unlucky or they dont take good care of their systems. im on my third and i take good caare of mine. i even bought a fan for it when i first got it, but it still messes up. i never got the three red light, mine always got the disk unreadable error. my third is goin strong so far though so hopefully i finally got a good one
yup, i did everything in my power to keep mine from dying. treated it as it were a god, in the end, yeah it died. im just waiting for my replacement to go out. its like the lottery. anyway though until then ill just play it till it happens.

I got my 360 at launch, it broke in April of 2006, and it has been fine since then.
Well...I have been a console owner since the Nes days and the Xbox360 is the only one to break down on me... Considering my last ones still work to this day, I would say, I take pretty good care of 'em.
I treated my 360 with care and never thought that it would happen to me, my 360 had never really shown any problems. Well that was untill a few days ago it started freezing frequently, and when freezing would come up with strange patterns on the screen, i thought i may have something to do with my component cables or my TV. So i tried hooking it up to another TV i turned it on played a bit of shadowrun and it froze again i turned it off and then back on again and to my horror i could see the three red lights (worst day of my life).
I hate when people say someones 360 breaks cause they dont take care of it, that is such BS. I know you're not saying that, but it really annoys me. I seriously hope those peoples 360s break real soon.
very true, i take great care with my stuff, i still have a working ps1. but my first 360 lasted a week, the second 3 months and the unit i have now is on its last legs.

It works after that so CS won't replace it.
The thing is, you are either gonna have just one system that works well and never breaks down, or at least 3, if not 5. The thing is - when your 360 crashes, you are given either a refurbished or repaired console that is likely to break down a short time down the road.
Get a warranty with it, you have insurance on your car right? End of topic. Next.
I take great care of my stuff and mine died after 10 months of light use. Look at my sig pic to see how I keep my 360 in a very well ventilated are with lots of room to breathe. The 360 is just a poorly designed and/or poorly manufactured hunk of ****.
Great games, terrible hardware.
