RPG's v.s. FPS's

what do you think is better rpg's or fps's and why?RPG's v.s. FPS's
well rpgs are better because they have much more replay value and last you alot longer, but fps's are better because they have more tightly packed action and you dont often get lost or bored.

neither...it's like comparing apples and oranges, which comes down to personal preference. it also comes down to the actual game, too. there are both godawful games and amazing games in both categories.personally, i prefer fps, but i also enjoy rpg. i'll definitely be getting mass effect, and i'm going to check out eternal sonata...people have been saying good things about it
RPG's, they tend to have much better stories, get the player involved more, and are generally just more fun in my view. :P
You could go for both and get shadowrun, hahaha. I prefer first person shooters, but i love a good RPG every now and then for a challenge

They dont have anything to do with eachother but for me it would depend what mood I am in. If I feel like immersing myself in a different world and leading a different life to accomplish in game goals I would pick rpg. If I felt like blasting some noobs and playing for short periods of time I would go with good old fps's. Personally, I love both genre's and would not trade one for the other any day.
i don't know what the point of this thread is (as others have stated, they're completely different)but i prefer fps.. not a big fan of walking around endlessly, rather have pure action.tomb raider is as rpg as i get ;)
RPGs last longer and normally have better stories but there normally isnt anything online
You cannot compare the two, theyr'e both completely diferent genres, and I like them both in diferent ways.
rpgs cause you can get so much more out of them, i can play an rpg for wayyyyyyyyyy longer than an fps. except for maybe a halo 2 or someting, with amazing online play that will have you playing the game a year later
RPGs and FPSs are my two favorite genres of gaming, but my favorite has to be RPGs. IMO there is absolutely nothing better than an amazing RPG.
rpg is better i think its just my preference. you can have an rpg with fps but not a fps with rpg. if you have a fps with rpg it is an rpg game because your role playing in fps.
FPS have more replayability seeing as how thousands of ppl are still playing halo 2 at any givin moment
It's a mood thing. I love both genres, just like I enjoy a good Platformer game like Mario. It really is a mood thing, I feel sorry for anyone who is interested in just the one genre, they really limit themselves that way.Unfortunately, I've met people like that who will only play shoot'em ups, some will only play RPG's. The better gamer in my opinion is someone who enjoys a variety of different genres.
