*2-3 weeks ago*
I downloaded the Hour of Victory demo. Played it for about 1 hour and just before I exited, I noticed graphics corruption (artifacts). Pink and green pixels to be precise, flickering around certain shapes, mainly the sky. This carried into the dashboard screen. A quick reboot fixed it. The console didn't even have time to cool down, apparently.
I deleted the demo because I thought that maybe, for whatever reason, it was corrupted itself because I hadn't had a problem with my 360 since I got it. I've had it approx. 10 weeks, manufactured 06.06.2006.
*Today*
I came to turn on my 360 this morning and I was immediately presented with graphics corruption and for some strange reason, the console had configured itself to Auto-Sign in withanotheraccount. Again, a quick reboot in a few seconds completely solved the artifact issue. I personally don't see how it could be related to overheating...?
Has anyone come across this problem, specifically in such a short amount of time? Exactlly what part of the console is malfunctioning? Judging by the account behaviour, I thought possibly a HDD problem/software related or something in that field?
Should I now be wary of an imminent break down? Also, does the new extended 1 year standard warranty apply for me as I think I recieved my 360 before itwas introduced?Any help would be greatlyappreciated.Graphics corruption/artifacts on new con ...
either your GPU in the 360 is over heating or just plain faulty, or the more logical conclusion...your 360 is demon possessed because it was manufactured 666!!!Graphics corruption/artifacts on new con ...
Well...can the GPU get THAT hot in under 10 seconds?
maybe the GPU was already affected by overheating and only decided to act now?
Maybe. I find it strange how it's not constant. Even more puzzling how another account was set to Auto Sign in...Here's hoping it doesn't happen again!
I would say call customer support (which they will probably blame it on your TV, but tell them it's not and give them an example of why you know it's not such as watching TV or a DVD doesn't cause this issue) or send it in for repair.
Yeah, I've sent an email to customer support explaining in detail about what happened previously and today, conditions etc. Seems like I'm going to have to send it in though which is real bugger. I though being amanufactured FAIRLY recently, it would have been fine!It does indeed sound like GPU damage, reminiscent of overcloking on PC graphics cards...
grr.
I though being amanufactured FAIRLY recently, it would have been fine!
Nah, that means nothing these days with electronics. It could have been a faulty card straight off the line.
