question on blu ray hd dvd add ons

hey fellasjusty wondering if the 360 got a blu ray drive externally, why wont they use it so they can play games from it and movies? surly this seems the right way to go. i dont mean to be stupid but i think all of us even those supporting hd dvd only know deep down inside that blu ray will win. and obvioulsy games r gonna keep getting larger where the 360 will have to sacrafice graphics over content ps3 wont have to for quite a while. this means from then games coming to ps3 would be better, larger, and graphically superior. quite frankky i want the 360 to be up in the lime light 2. i think the only way the 360 will compete in the next few years(for title of most next gen and mostgraphically impressing)is with an add on hd dvd or blu ray (preferably blu ray due to it having the better credentials) the can play games, or another viable option is allowing the 360 to save games onto an external hard drive and playing from there, this too wouldnt be a bad idea, just to buy games and install them on hard drives.resistance and motorstorm alreadytake like 16- 18gbforza 2 is great now, just imagineif developers had that extra space to work with, it would have like a 1000 cars bare (i mean bare) tracks and much much better graphics (not that they aint great now it just u cant help feel they could be alot better)wot do u guys fink?question on blu ray hd dvd add ons
That was the hardest thing to read. You should be using the Queens English. The answer is no to games on an external drive. An external Blu Ray drive is a possibility.question on blu ray hd dvd add ons
I dont fink
never going to happen, just cos ps3 devs are to lazy to compress the files doesnt mean the 360 devs wont, besides ever heard of changing disks
they cant use the drive for games because USB is still too slow of a cableand MS has so much good compression technology that they dont need anything more than 9 GIG

All games are compressed no matter what disk they're on.

Damn right, thats why we only need 1.44meg floppy disks for games.
Wow, this thread was ill-conceived from the word ''go''.
You do realize Sony utilizes a all-in-need to there games right? Haven't you read about it? They create dummy files (files that aren't needed) on their games to fill the disc space. Then they say: 'Oh look! Motorstorm is 18GB! Blu Ray is needed people!'Truth is, with compression (which they do not allow) and leaving dummy files of the disc, Motorstorm would be an avarage 5GB or slightly more. Sony uses this tactic to try and convince people Blu Ray is needed. And judging from your reaction I can see they succeed in fooling people.Trust me, larger disc space won't be needed until 2011 or later. Which is, when the new Xbox will launch. So to answer your question: no.
kevanio, it aint really a viable option to change disks in a free roam game, i think its quite alright in rpg's or fps etc eg imagine in gta going from one city to another and then back, changing disks would be stupid.i know ppl say blu ray aint needed but i think it is, some games are already maxing out the space on dvd 9's. i know gears of war didnt it was like 6 gig or something but it was short, i want a game like that that can last 2 to 3 times aslong. it the same strory wit rainbow six and warfigher, they got the graphics but due to lack of space, they aint nowhere near as long as i want them to bebout the queens english thing, i aint in no english class or exam, im on the net and therefore i dont think i need to type the 'queens' english... get me? or most likely not

Thats 100% crap. Motorstorm is compressed, but Resistance on the other hand did use a dummy file, it wasnt, isnt and never will be sonys policy. The idea of dummy files early on in a disks life time is it forces people who dont know what is and what isnt needed to use the same type of disk to store the title thus increasing the price to pirate it. Done on DVD, Done on CD.
